Types

Anorexia nervosa

A disease that causes people to view themselves as overweight when they are clearly underweight. It is marked by extreme fear of becoming overweight which leads to excessive dieting to the point of serious health problems.

 

Bulimia Nervosa

Reoccurring episodes of eating unusually large amounts of food accompanied with a feeling of lack of control over these episodes. This behavior is followed by vomiting, excessive use of laxatives or diuretics, fasting, or excessive exercise to rid themselves of the calories they just ate. This cycle occurs anywhere from several times per week to many times per day. People with this disease usually either maintain a healthy/ normal weight or are slightly overweight.

 

Binge Eating

Consists of eating large amounts of food in a short period of time. It’s a disease where you lose control over your eating. People with this disease are often overweight or obese.
